Brandon Gay became a part of the anthropology program at University of California, San Diego in 2016. Prior to this he earned a B.A. in anthropology with a minor in geography from California State University Dominguez Hills. His current research looks at settlement patterns during the Late Intermediate Period (1000-1400 C.E.) as a response to social and environmental stressors in Moquegua Peru. He has also published articles regarding obsidian acquisition of the Paipai in Baja California
