The Wadi Fidan Salvage Project is sponsored by the Jordanian Department of Antiquities in conjunction with the University of California, San Diego's Jabal Hamrat Fidan Project. The project focused on salvaging data from WFD-4 (EB-IA Village) and the Iron Age Cemetery of WFD-40: two sites that will be greatly impacted by the construction of a large earthen dam on the Wadi Fidan. Although the project is scheduled to continue for a period of three months, the UCSD team's participation was limited to a five-week period.

The goals and aims of the project during this period are to excavate, recover, record and process data using GIS on-site recording based on TotalStation technology. These include collection and studies in archaeobotanical remains, flotation sampling, zooarchaeological material, and human remains including pathologies.

We invite you to explore the excavations at the Village and the Cemetery and our adventures in southern Jordan by clicking on the links above.
